Satisfying Home Projects to Tackle This Fall

Pumpkin spice and everything nice. Sweater weather is here, and along with the cooler temps comes a good opportunity to knock out those home projects you staved off during the summer.

Fall is an ideal time for home projects for many reasons. One of them being that most building materials are best suited for milder temperatures. If you are an avid DIYer, the pleasant weather will surely be welcome in place of the heat of summer. Making your prospective project far less dreadful. If you do not care for DIY projects, no worries, fall is still a fantastic time to hire a professional too. Since business for contractors tends to drop during fall, you will not have a problem finding a helping hand.

In order to help you be the most productive, the team here at Goodwyn Building has compiled a quick reference guide of fall projects you can get done this season. Let’s get started!

Paint the Exterior

Are you looking to sell your home in the spring? One of the best investments you can make is in curb appeal. If your paint job is rather fresh, a few touch ups may be sufficient. If not, do yourself and your wallet a favor and hire a professional to come out and give the exterior of your home a fresh look. While a new paint job can cost around $1,000-$4,000, that is a small investment towards the extra 10% you are likely to get back in sales.

Paint the Front Door

While we are on the subject of painting, why not consider painting your front door? After all, this simple project can be completed in a quick afternoon. Painting your front door can get rid of any dinginess and choosing a bright color can add to the welcoming feel of your home.

Give Attention to Your Roof

Your roof is your home’s first line of defense. If it has been a minute since you last had your roof inspected, fall is a prime time to do so. Having someone inspect your roof can save you money if they are able to find weak points before they become major issues. Or even if you find that you need to replace your roof altogether, it is worth it to have peace of mind come winter. Especially if you happen to live in a climate that sees a lot of snow.

Clean Out the Gutters

It is an annoying chore, yes. Clearing out dirty, wet debris from your gutters is a gross task, but the payoff is sweet. If you regularly take half an hour to clean out your gutters, you will end up saving yourself thousands of dollars in foundation damages.

This is just a small list of possible projects you can take on this season. We hope you found it helpful. If you are doing maintenance on your house with aim to sell it come spring, be sure to keep Goodwyn Building in mind for your new home!
