Gutter Cleaning Made Easy
Goodwyn Homes utilizes energy efficient materials when we build. This means that when you buy from us, you can have confidence that you will be able to afford your home for years to come. Another thing that can save you money in the long run is completing routine maintenance on your home. For example, gutters play a major role protecting your home from flooding and water damage. That’s why clearing gutters of debris every season is vital. Many people dread this chore, but try out one or two of these tips and you might be surprised at just how easy the job can be!
Have Someone Spot You
Ladder related injuries account for a large portion of emergency room visits. Don’t let yourself be a part of that statistic! Before you get started, enlist the help of a family member or friend. Having the stability of someone holding the ladder may help you complete the job faster too.
Power Washer
One option is to blast debris away with a power washer. You can either rent this piece of equipment or buy it depending on how frequently you figure you’ll use it. Be mindful to use a low setting, as too much pressure may lead to damage. Once the lines are clear, take a moment to inspect for any loose screws or pulling away from the house.
Leaf Blower
Another option is to take advantage of a leaf blower. A lot of leaf blowers actually come with gutter cleaning attachments that make the work all the easier. If yours does not have the proper attachments, you can easily source them. When doing so, try looking for ones with long extension handles. This way you may not need a ladder at all.
Shop Vac
Another piece of equipment to consider is a shop vac. Like leaf blowers, shop vacs can also be outfitted with specialized gutter cleaning attachments. Clearing gutters this way can be nice because all of the gunk is neatly collected and can be disposed of easily.
